EARTH 101:

HOLLYWOOD VS. REALITY

 

• The objective of this course is to investigate a variety of natural hazards and disasters in an integrated lecture format.
• Through this format, students will come to appreciate both an understanding of the course material, and more importantly, the benefits of scientific approaches to problem solving.
• Using Popular Media, like exerpts of "disaster films", in conjunction with scientific lectures and discussions we can identify the causes, sequences, and public perceptions of natural hazards.
